There are many types of wall panels. Our company specializes in metal wall panels, such as single skin panels, aluminum composite panels, insulated wall panels, and plate metal panels. There are other types, but those are the ones we do most commonly. We have also done other types of wall panels, such as phenolic and fiber cement.
Single Skin Wall Panels
A single skin wall panel is one that is just one thickness of metal, as opposed to an insulated panel, which has insulation between two skins, or an aluminum composite panel, which has plastic between two skins. There are many different profiles for single skin metal panels. The most common one we do is a flush panel. There are also rounded corrugated panels and ones that look more square.
Aluminum Composite Wall Panels
Aluminum composite panels, often referred to as ACM panels, are made of a plastic core that is sandwiched between two aluminum skins. These are usually the metal panels used on car dealerships. They are becoming more popular, and we have installed them on several schools now. We have our own CNC router table so we can fabricate our panels in house to fit the job as we need them. We can also fabricate ACM panels for other contractors. Alfrex is one manufacturer we have used recently.
Insulated Metal Wall Panels
Insulated metal panels are made of insulation sandwiched between two steel skins. They are often used on warehouses so they can insulate them without having insulation exposed. They are becoming more popular on schools. These panels can have mitered corners and trimless ends, which gives them a clean, sharp look. We have installed many Kingspan insulated panels.
Metal Plate Panels
Metal plate panels are generally made from thick aluminum, at least .063, and are formed from one piece of aluminum into a panel shape. These have tabs and slots and fit together sequentially. We have put these on a few schools, and a law enforcement offices. They provide a clean look with reveals. We have installed American Metalcraft plate panels, among others.
Phenolic Wall Panels
Phenolic wall panels are not metal, but they are a composite material, similar to bathroom partitions. These can be installed in a rainscreen condition like many of the wall panels.
